The portable model NTZ-OPH-BXa-RC uses a combination of 72 focusing lenses, the corrective lenses offer a wide range from -36D to +35D in 1D steps, and the corrective lens wheel provides a smooth change in focus that makes it easy to keep a sharp image of the fundus. Furthermore, the direct reading diopter indicator is backlit from the halogen illumination system and is readable at any lighting level.
An included polarizing filter can be inserted into the illumination and observation axes and rotated to minimize the patient’s corneal response without sacrificing a bright visualization of the fundus. In addition, the aperture dial and filter lever can be adjusted separately, making it possible to use a 4000K filter or polarizing filter in all apertures. These include a standard aperture, small aperture, slit aperture, concentric scale aperture, and red-free filter aperture.
Position | Aperture/Filter | Function |
Normal Aperture | Used for typical fundus examination
Small Aperture | Used when examining small pupils. In particular, when examining through constricted pupils such as during examination of the macula.
Red-Free Filter | Red tissue such as blood vessels appear black, facilitating detection of minute fundal hemorrhages.
Concentric Scale | While observing the patient's fundus, instruct the patient to fixate on the center of the concentric scale. It is possible the determine the presence of eccentric fixation from the relation between the center of the concentric scale and the patient's foveola.
Slit | Using a slit illumination facilitates recognition of roughness on the surface of the fundus. |
The optical components of the NTZ-OPH-BXa-RC are wholly enclosed within the head of the device and are protected by the aperture shutter – no cap required.
This ophthalmoscope is bundled with a spare bulb, carrying case. With the charging station Dual Desk Charger NTZ-CHG-RC-II (sold separately) and an extra RC battery handle, users won’t need to stop working to charge their device.
