Convergent binocular stereovision optical system with crossed angle

The Ezer ESL-5200 features Haag-Streit style tower illumination and an advanced convergent binocular stereovision optical system with crossed angle. The unit offers two eyepieces (10x and 16x) and two magnification levels (1x to 1.6x).

Two-Level Magnification

The advanced optics of the ESL-5200 offer two-level magnification that can be easily changed during examination, from 1x to 1.6x, via the conveniently located lever on the instrument. Total magnifications are equivalent to 10x (Ø18 mm) and 16x (Ø14.5 mm) with the 10x eyepiece, and 16x (Ø11.25 mm) and 25.6x (Ø9 mm) with the 16x eyepiece.

Wide field of view with PD and diopter adjustment range

The convergent binocular stereovisual optical system with crossed angle of the Ezer ESL-5200 offers a wide field of view of Ø18 mm, Ø14 mm, Ø11.25 mm and Ø9 mm, with a pupillary distance (PD) adjustment range of 51 mm to 82 mm, depending on the eyepiece selected by the operator. Diopters can be adjusted to ±8D with the 10x eyepiece and to ±10D with the 16x eyepiece.

Two fixation target options

The ESL-5200 offers two fixation target options. One allows diopter adjustment to help the patient see the target clearly, while the other is an illuminated fixed point. The diopter-compensated fixation target features a dot and concentric circles; the operator simply slides the knob to adjust the compensation within the range of -15D to +10D. The light point fixation target is especially suitable for patients with refractive errors greater than -15D.

High-clarity luminance and integrated filters

The ESL-5200 uses a bulb that provides exceptional illumination. Four filters integrated into the illumination path can be effortlessly inserted using the selection lever. Options include a heat absorption filter that improves patient comfort during prolonged examinations, a Red-Free filter that enhances the contrast of structures, a cobalt blue filter for fluorescein evaluation, and a gray filter.

Continuous slit rotation and aperture adjustment

The ESL-5200 features a slit projection magnification of 2/3x and allows continuous adjustment of the slit width from 0 mm to 9 mm. At 9 mm, the slit becomes a circle. The slit height is also continuously adjustable from 1 mm to 8 mm. The aperture diameters are Ø9 mm, Ø8 mm, Ø5 mm, Ø3 mm, Ø2 mm, Ø1 mm, and Ø0.2 mm. The slit angle is continuously adjustable from vertical to horizontal, from 0° to 180°. Four slit tilt steps are also available —5°, 10°, 15°, 20°— for oblique illumination in contact lens evaluation.

Ergonomic illumination control design

The classic, refined design of the ESL-5200 allows for precise movements and straightforward operation of the joystick and knobs. For example, the illumination lever is conveniently located next to the joystick. The brightness control switch can be set to High or Normal, further facilitating diagnostic procedures.

Integrated Control Joystick

The integrated joystick is easy to control and allows the operator to obtain sharp images. The ESL-5200 base operation offers the following movements to provide flexibility, comfort, and precision: forward and backward movement of up to 90 mm; left-right movement of up to 100 mm; fine movement of up to 15 mm; and vertical movement of up to 30 mm. The joystick moves horizontally for fine adjustment and vertically for height and alignment with the target. Once proper alignment is achieved, the base can be locked to prevent it from sliding.

Fundus Observation

Unlike standard slit lamps, the Ezer ESL-5200 also allows dilated fundus examination and posterior vitreous segment examination using a Hruby lens, utilizing the unit’s Hruby lens holder and Hruby lens guide plate.

Optional accessories

This ESL-5200 slit lamp can be equipped with the TN-150 / TN-150B applanation tonometer or with the Haag-Streit AG applanation tonometer model R-900 or model T-900 to measure intraocular pressure.
