Refraction equipment for the exam lane

Refraction determines the lens power that gives a patient their best corrected vision. A complete lane usually pairs an objective starting point — an autorefractor, often combined with a keratometer — with a subjective refinement step at a phoropter or refractor head, checked against an acuity chart and confirmed with a lensmeter reading of the patient's current spectacles.
