Optical dispensing equipment for the eyeglass bench
Dispensing is where a prescription becomes a finished pair of glasses. The equipment below covers the four jobs that happen at the frame bench and the dispensing table: measuring the patient's pupillary distance, adjusting and fitting the frame, verifying photochromic lens behaviour, and cleaning frames and lenses between handling steps. Accurate PD measurement and a properly adjusted frame are what keep a correct prescription from being ruined at delivery.
US Ophthalmic is a provider of optical and diagnostic equipment to eye care practices across the USA and Latin America, with US warranty, in-house service and genuine spare parts. Browse dispensing equipment by type:
- Digital pupillometers — measure monocular and binocular pupillary distance at near and far without a PD ruler. Includes the Ezer EPD-2600 and EPD-1800 and the LuxVision PM-100 and PM-120.
- Frame heaters and warmers — warm acetate and plastic frames evenly so temples and bridges can be adjusted without cracking the material. LuxVision FH-6200, FH-6300 and FH-6500.
- Photochromic lens testers — demonstrate and verify how a photochromic lens darkens and clears, in front of the patient at the dispensing table. LuxVision PH-8100, PH-8200, PH-9000 and PH-9800.
- Ultrasonic frame and lens cleaners — remove skin oils, debris and polishing residue from frames and mountings before fitting or after edging. LuxVision UCS and UCB series, from compact 2L benchtop tanks up to 6L with heating.
Choosing dispensing equipment
Two questions decide most of this category. First, how much of your finishing work is done in house — a practice that edges its own lenses will use the ultrasonic cleaner and frame heater every day and should size both for that volume, while a practice that orders finished jobs from a lab needs them only at delivery. Second, how you measure PD today — a digital pupillometer removes the parallax and patient-fixation error that a hand-held PD ruler introduces, which matters most on progressive and high-power prescriptions where a small decentration error becomes an unwearable pair.
Dispensing equipment pairs naturally with the optical lab: see also lens edgers, frame tracers and digital lensmeters (lensometers) for verifying the finished job.
