TIPS FOR YOUR LASER
■ Yearly maintenance service assures the best performance of your laser
■ Follow the safety advice of the manufacturer and your regulatory body
■ Follow the intended use described in the IFU
Photocoagulation:
Retinal photocoagulation, pan-retinal photocoagulation (PRP) and intravitreal endophotocoagulation of vascular and structural abnormalities of the retina and choroids, including:
■ Proliferative and non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy
■ Choroidal neovascularization
■ Branch retinal vein occlusion
■ Age-related macular degeneration
■ Retinal tears and detachments
■ Retinopathy of prematurity
■ Macular edema
■ Lattice degeneration
■ Central retinal vein occlusion
Iridotomy:
■ Iridotomy in angle closure glaucoma
Trabeculoplasty:
■ Trabeculoplasty in open angle glaucoma
The wavelength of 532 nm is particularly beneficial for various retinal treatments, especially those involving the pigmented retinal epithelium (RPE). This is because the green light at this wavelength is most efficiently absorbed by the pigment melanin, which is abundant in the RPE. This makes 532 nm an ideal choice for laser treatments that target the RPE, such as those used in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration and other retinal diseases.
AVAILABLE TREATMENTS:
- For proliferative diabetic retinopathy, panretinal photocoagulation (PRP) and anti-VEG therapy are commonly used treatments.
- Retinal tears and detachments can be treated through a process called "soldering" or "welding," in which a laser is used to seal the retina back in place.
- Ablation treatments, such as laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI), can be used to treat various eye conditions, including narrow-angle glaucoma.
The standard accessories include a foot switch, transport case, and safety goggles. The optional accessories include slit lamp adapters, laser indirect ophthalmoscope, safety filters (passive and active), endoprobes, and an external fan.
- Foot switch (standard accesory): The foot switch is used to turn the laser on and off. It allows the surgeon to operate the laser without using their hands, which can help improve accuracy and reduce the risk of accidental firing.
- Transport case (standard accesory): The transport case is used to store and transport the laser safely. It helps protect the device from damage during transportation and storage.
- Safety goggles (standard accesory): The safety goggles are worn by the surgeon and other personnel in the room to protect their eyes from the laser light. They help prevent eye damage and reduce the risk of accidental exposure to laser radiation.
- External fan (optional accesory): The external fan is used to cool the laser device during operation. Lasers generate a lot of heat, and the external fan helps prevent the device from overheating and potentially malfunctioning.
- Slit lamp adapters
- Laser indirect ophthalmoscope
- Safety filters (passive & active)
The delivery system for the Merilas α532 laser platform is optimized for exceptional performance. The laser is delivered coaxially with the user's viewing axis, ensuring precise targeting and accuracy. The system features a standard LED module with a neutral LED cooler color that provides bright illumination while also extending battery life. The high-contrast optics and built-in filters further enhance the precision and effectiveness of the laser. Additionally, the system has an intelligent optical system that can automatically adjust the optics and mirrors for optimal performance. Finally, the delivery system comes with a high magnification lens that provides an additional 1.6x magnification for even greater precision and accuracy.
Meridian's endoprobes are made by EMTRON with strict quality control to ensure high-quality polished fibre surfaces, resulting in even laser spots and eliminating the risk of "hot spots" during treatment. The endoprobes come with unique serial numbers, providing the highest level of traceability. They are CE-marked and sterilized individually for single use, ensuring optimal safety during procedures.
The available probes for our delivery systems feature a comfortable and ergonomic grip design, ensuring a precise and safe fibre guidance for unparalleled treatment accuracy. The balanced handpiece and standard SMA connector of the laser port enhance the user's flexibility and versatility during procedures.
