More Reliable than a Millimeter Ruler
Measuring PDs (pupillary distances) accurately and consistently with a millimeter ruler requires a high level of skill. A nasal cutout is needed for monocular PDs, and a handheld light source is required to illuminate the corneal reflex, all of which depends on a highly refined technique.
